Vacy Forgotten in the Council Funding Plans ⚠️

🚨 Vacy we have a problem! 🚨There's a favourite child and it ain't us. We are not - as yet - getting a fair share of the coin in the Capital Works Program 2025-2029 that is currently on exhibition from Council, and we need to rally before the 16th May deadline to change that! A snap shot is below.

The short story is Vacy is the only town to have no cash allocated for Capital Works in the community buildings, pools and recreational facilities space. We have a single project within the next 5 years and it's contingent on grants (it's for drainage and irrigation of the oval). The road crossing plan that had been with council for some time has dropped off.
Summary = we have been overlooked for too long and deserve to be better represented in this new shire plan. Let's use the opportunity Council have given us to change that.
Whilst we do have the Vacy Village Vision, we're told the Council plan has been in development for a long time relative to the 4 weeks since our vision was published. If we want it to change the only way is through public submissions.
That is writing a letter or email to council voicing concern about the capital works plan (kindly but firmly of course) because Vacy deserves a fair go as a significant village in the shire, to support the goals of the Vacy Village Vision and/or anything else you think is missing from the plan.
Submissions will be accepted up until 5pm, Friday 16 May 2025 and may be lodged with Council:
By email addressed to the General Manager at shirecouncil@dungog.nsw.gov.au
By post to the General Manager, PO BOX 95, DUNGOG NSW 2420
Telephone enquiries may be directed to Council at 02 4995 7777.
Projects from the Vacy Village Vision that could be in the 5 year plan (irrespective of which capital works segment) in order of priority:
Pedestrian crossings and footpath connecting the school, hall, cafe and oval.
The village green/pub car park renewal.
Multi-purpose court.
Pedestrian bridge alongside the Vacy bridge to allow safe passage for people walking and riding to town (esp on approach to bridge). This would have the added benefit of increasing the width and aesthetic of the bridge, noting it would still have a weight limit requiring detour of overly heavy vehicles.
Footpath connecting the 'Vacy Village' development, and the older developments opposite, to the school. Kids should be able to safely walk/ride there.
Please share with other residents of Vacy so we have a voice at the planning table!
