STATUS: COMPLETED

• Council initiative with support from Dungog Regional Tourism

• Located in Vacy due to power access

• 2 bay EV charging station being put in by Council by mid-December 2024

Bringing the sexy back to Vacy Oval

STATUS: NEARING COMPLETION

• Managed by the 355 Committee Vacy - includes new fence, cricket pitch, shelter, trees and irrigation

• Stockman's Cricket Club are fixing up the change rooms

• Scorpion's/Stockman's/355 are working together to fix the soil/grass condition post lively soccer season. 

Beautification of Clarkes Crossing

STATUS: IN PROGRESS

• A joint initiative of the Gresford Landcare Group and Vacy individuals, with workshops held monthly all year

• A variety of native and locally appropriate species of flora have been planted.

• A local a landscaper volunteered to help enable grass seeds to be sown

Footpaths and pedestrian crossing

STATUS: GRANT SUBMITTED

• Council initiative now with other interested parties.

• Second raised footpath at the bottom of the image was a subsequent amendment request that is being considered by the DSC Local Traffic Committee (full picture here)

Riverbank stairs at Clarkes Crossing

STATUS: GRANT REJECTED

• A project of the Gresford Landcare Group. What they're doing down there is community magic.

• A copy of the grant has been requested so more details can be shared.

Street lights in new developments

STATUS: SEEKING CONSULTATION

• The new streetlights, requested by developers (not the council), raise concerns about light pollution and the neighbourhood's rural feel.

• Conversations with council ongoing to see if they can be turned off until houses are built, and to exclude them from future projects.

Irrigation at Clarkes Crossing

STATUS: FUNDING SECURED

• Purpose is to water the trees being established along that track

• It's not awaiting Council approval – includes tank, solar power, pump, lines and installation.

• Finding the perfect location for the tank has been tricky

Dedicated Grants Officer at Council

STATUS: ELECTION COMMITTMENT

• 67% of Council funds come from grants (not rate payers) as we are a large shire with few people. We don't however, have someone dedicated to managing them.   

• Other areas have recently done so and had much success. This is an election promise we will watch closely.

Painting the water tower

STATUS: ON HOLD

• Provisional approval gained from the owner (Hunter Water)

• Tank is getting replaced in the next 2 years, so waiting for this to happen.

• Local artist has been approach to do a wildlife/rural scene.

• More recently peeps have wondered what's happening with the 'old' tank

St Johns Church to be sold

STATUS:CONFIRMED

• To be sold by the Anglican Church in the next year.

• The columbarium/cremation wall to be moved to the front and a fence put up. 

• We could try fundraise to purchase and repurpose as an ideas hub, informal library and community garden prepared but it's a long shot!
